The personal story

Why I keep growing Agave Lechuguilla

Its compact rosette brings the character of desert country into a small space. The essential growing requirement is drainage: a plant adapted to scarce rainfall should never sit in continuously wet soil.

Lechuguilla is a defining plant of the Chihuahuan Desert. Its narrow, rigid leaves form a compact architectural rosette shaped by sunlight, lean mineral soils, and scarce rainfall.

Botanical Scout raises these plants from seed rather than removing plants from the wild or taking offsets. Each seedling develops its own roots, with natural differences in size, form, and growth. Its slow development offers time to watch a distinctive desert plant take shape.
